Hello there! Sorry for no post yesterday -- we took a trip out to California with my husband for his business trip and spent a few days playing in Disneyland. We had SO much fun. We are Disney lovers and it was our first time to DL. We loved it -- there are definite differences between DL and WDW that I may write about sometime. Both are amazing places!
I can't believe my no-spend month is nearly done! I've gotten SO much done, I feel great about it. I'm considering continuing through February because the to do list is still long. We'll see about that -- depends on how much I get done this week. :)
One of the latest projects is one that's been sitting in the garage for a few months. I drooled over this Tilden metal bed from Target for nearly a year -- I absolutely loved the farmhouse yet classic feel and thought it would be lovely in our guest bedroom:
Because it's a guest room I didn't want to spend much on it though -- the full size was only $320 but even that was more than I was willing to spend. So occasionally I would check out the site and see if it was on sale.
Back in the fall it was -- score! It was on sale and had free shipping. Then I was able to use at least one coupon code (just do a "Target coupon code" search) -- if I remember right I used two codes but I hear they only allow you to do that occasionally. So after all of that I got this $320 bed for around $240. Not bad at all!
I waited to put it together because I was planning to spray paint it. It's a dark bronze and I really wanted black. But then it got cold. :) I didn't want to stand out in the garage to spray it and I knew the spray wouldn't work great in lower temps, so I went ahead and put it together. I LOVE it!! It's so pretty! And plenty dark as it is.
Here's what the room looked like last time I shared it with you, after the new paint, wall treatment and bedding:
I love that tufted bedding from Walmart! It is such a good deal for the set and looks identical to the West Elm version I had eyed for years.
I like a layered bed so I when I found a pretty blue and green duvet cover at Bed Bath and Beyond on clearance, I picked it up as well. It came together beautifully:
The bed was very easy to put together -- it took me less than an hour. I just love the look!
I've never had a bed with a tall footboard like this. It makes the bed feel finished, if that makes any sense:
The bed does take up more space than just the frame -- it's about eight inches longer, so keep that in mind if you are interested in this one. Also, having the footboard takes up more visual space as well, but the design helps to alleviate that a bit.
I love the it! The turned details are pretty but simple:
I put one of my DIY sunburst mirrors above the bed because I stole the one that was up there for the staircase. :)
This one is pretty large so I think I'll look for something else for that spot. We'll see:
This bed is on sale for $300 right now. You may be able to use some coupon codes to get that down even further. I think it would be adorable in a kid's room as well -- this may have to move into the Bub's room at some point! It would be so fun spray painted in a bright color like red or yellow too. It's hard to go wrong with this one.
As a reminder, here's what the guest room looked like last year before I started the updates:
That ombre wall was fun but I was ready for a new look.
Here is it now, after quite a few changes:
I have two more big projects in this room before I'm calling it done -- I hope to finish it up in the next couple of months. Remember, FINISH is my word this year. ;) For now I'm thrilled to have knocked out another item off the to do list. This bed is way too pretty to be stuck in the garage! The wall color in this room is called Softened Green by Sherwin Williams and the photos today with the new bed are more representative of the true color. The before photo further up in the post was taken on a day with not great light that changed the color a bit. It is a beautiful lighter gray green color!
